WHAT IS IT?

PRAASA is a service assembly that aims to encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences in service, foster greater unity, and provide an opportunity for discussion among the members, groups, and Areas of the AA Pacific Region.
The Pacific Region is comprised of 15 service Areas across 9 western states (including Alaska and Hawaii; BC/Yukon is also an honorary member). Besides other GSRs and DCMs from across the region, there will be delegates and trustees (past and present), and really, anyone interested in service or the future of AA is welcome!
The weekend will be filled with
- Panels covering numerous current topics in AA
- Roundtables for various interest groups to discuss and share ideas
- Fellowship with 1,500+ other trusted servants
- Fun! (and keynotes, meetings, and stuff, but I wanted to end the list with fun!
WHY SHOULD I CARE?

PRAASA is:
CONNECTION: It’s been said that the opposite of addiction is connection, and oh boy, is that evident at PRAASA! You will quickly notice how people from different parts of the country know each other from years past, greeting each other like long-lost friends.
EDUCATION: Most of the panels will include presentations and discussion on topics relevant to the 2024 General Service Conference. When you leave PRAASA, you’ll have a deeper awareness of those topics, and an appreciation for why they matter.
There are also times set aside for roundtables, where you can connect with others over common interests, sharing experiences, ideas, and well, just fellowship.
INSPIRATION: There is something awesome about being among so many other people in love with AA, truly dedicated to the well-being of the Fellowship and its future.
Most of all, PRAASA is FUN!

Having PRAASA in the Bay Area is rare! PRAASA locations are rotated among the Areas of the Pacific Region. The last time it was hosted by Area 06 was FOURTEEN YEARS AGO (2009, in Oakland). It’s unlikely we’ll host PRAASA again for another 15 years.
If you’re curious, 2025 will be in Alaska. 2026 will be in…Hawaii! 
But this year, it’s in our backyard. You don’t want to miss it!!
ASKING YOUR GROUP TO FUND YOU

It is up to each group to decide whether it will reimburse its GSR for all or part of the travel expenses, but groups should keep in mind that an individual’s finances should not be a barrier to service. (p.10 AA Service Manual)
